Series Goals and Objectives

  1. Understand the Epidemiology of Pediatric depression, associated risk factors and age -specific variations on presentation.
  2. Recognize when to evaluate for differential diagnosis as well as medical and psychiatric comorbidities.
  3. Review the protocols for screening of depression and how to diagnose clinical depression and severity.
  4. Understand how to create a biopsychosocial formulation that guides a treatment plan for referral to psychotherapy, initiation of medication and/or consultation with a mental health provider.
  5. Understand the use of medications and evidence-based therapies.
