Facing Fears, One Step at a Time: An Overview of Exposure Therapy for Children and Adolescents with Anxiety

Illinois healthcare and school clinicians involved in the care of children, adolescents (up to age 21), and perinatal women can access free psychiatric consultation and referral assistance with Illinois DocAssist.

  • Consultants assist with screening, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals.
  • The consultation line is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (CST).
  • Speak to a psychiatric consultant, usually within 30 minutes and always within one business day.
  • Patient-identifying information is not required.
  • The service is free.

Starting October 29, 2025, all users will complete a registration form (online or by phone), so we know who you are and how to contact you.

  • Step 2: Make a service request

    To request consultation or referral assistance look for an email from docassistil@uic.edu with the subject Illinois DocAssist (IDA) Service Request Page Link”. Alternatively, you can make a request by phone at 866-986-2778 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

  • Step 3: Talk to a consultant

    Illinois DocAssist board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists and perinatal psychiatrists will call you and provide evidence-based information to answer your questions.

  • Step 4: Establish a plan

    Illinois DocAssist will help with creating a plan to care for your patient, including screening tools, medication management, referral assistance and follow-up.
