Dr. Charney will start off by briefly sharing clinical pearls focused on the topic of pediatric depression and then for the remainder of the hour she will be available to you for live discussion and consultation. This is a relaxed environment for any Illinois pediatric healthcare clinician to drop in and meet an Illinois DocAssist psychiatric consultant.

Mythbusting: Recognizing Differential Diagnoses of Depression. 

To kick off this clinical conversation, Dr. Charney will review risk factors for youth depression. Recognition of depression in the very young and autistic child as well as iatrogenic and medical causes for depressive symptoms will be illustrated in case examples. Dr Charney will then remain available for virtual consultations.

To begin this clinical conversation,  Dr. Charney will briefly review current screeners for depression and self-harm behaviors as well as the basic tenets of treatment planning. Dr. Charney will then remain available for virtual consultations.

Essential Psychoeducation for Making Therapy Referrals for Depressed Youth

To start this clinical conversation, Dr Charney will explain the core principles of CBT, IPT and DBT. Resources will be provided. Dr. Charney will then remain available for virtual consultations.
